This is an exciting week for the EHB – ReliaTect™ Post-Op Dressing with CHG was mentioned in the latest post on one of our favorite blogs – the MedSurgPI News and Blog! If you’re not familiar, MedSurgPI was founded and is led by two highly experienced clinician-executives whose combined backgrounds encompass medicine, surgery, technology, product commercialization and clinical development, Gerry Klein, MD and Peter Johnson, MD.
In his post, Dr. Klein discusses the role of an antimicrobial dressing in post-operative home care, the criteria of an ideal dressing and the impact it can have on surgical recovery. We recommend you check it out here.
Some of you reading this have participated in patient care in a traditional hospital setting where discharging a patient home is usually a good thing. And… it usually is, but with hospital ownership for most surgical outcomes lasting 90 days, the environment the patient is returning to before their follow-up appointment along with their compliance to discharge instructions are things that can keep hospital administrators awake at night. Patients are typically sent home ASAP and this often takes place when the incision is most prone to contamination – the first few days after surgery. Perhaps you’ve heard the story of the patient who let their pet lick their wound resulting in infection, which lead to a surgical revision and readmission… all at the facility’s expense. With so much at stake for the patient and hospital, Dr. Klein’s questions about available post-operative practices to reduce the risk of infection and options that empower the patient to be a good partner in their care and recovery are very timely.
As mentioned earlier, Dr. Klein directs his readers to ReliaTect as a post-operative wound dressing that meets his criteria for a convenient and comfortable post-operative wound care solution. We elaborate a little more below about how ReliaTect aligns with his recommendations…
Non-invasive Observational Wound Management
In 2017, Eloquest Healthcare, Inc. collaborated with Vancive Medical Technologies, the Avery Dennison subsidiary, to make ReliaTect® Post-Op Dressing with CHG available to hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASC). ReliaTect fills the gap in the perioperative care continuum to ensure the proven properties of CHG used in the pre-operative phase, like bathing and skin antisepsis, are also available post-operatively.
The unique combination of attributes offered by ReliaTect are not seen with other antimicrobial post-operative dressings. In addition to providing the antimicrobial properties of CHG, ReliaTect is also transparent, a very unique attribute in this market.
The dressing’s see-through nature supports best post-operative practices like observation of the site without the pain, costs associated with multiple dressing changes and risk of contamination from exposure. Being able to report potential warning signs or symptoms early empowers and supports the patient’s role as a good partner in their recovery.
ReliaTect is waterproof so patients can resume their hygiene routine without concern of failed dressing integrity. Additionally, it features proprietary moisture management capabilities making it both absorptive and breathable, thereby providing an optimal wound healing environment.

Together, these features fulfill our mantra of “One Patient, One Surgery, One Dressing” and support our ambitious goal to help hospitals achieve their benchmarks related to Outcomes, Quality and Cost. Minimizing infection risk is an essential part of optimizing “The Triple Aim” of the Affordable Care Act. Eloquest Healthcare is committed to providing solutions that can help you reduce the risk of conditions like a central line‐associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) and post‐operative wound contamination.
